Onyx is an advisory group of parents of African American students at St. Agnes. Our primary goals are recruiting highly qualified African American students to apply to SAA, and retaining those students once they have matriculated at SAA. Onyx hosts two annual activities: the student-led Fall event during which prospective students and their families are introduced to current families in an intimate setting, and the Spring event when newly enrolled students are welcomed and graduating seniors are honored. Any parent can be a member of Onyx. In addition to the board, we select class representatives for each grade level, and a liaison to the student group, Voices of Black Youth (VOBY). The board meets biannually at the start of each semester.
